The effects on behavior and mood when feeding an animal an un-natural diet
have been studied since at least the latter part of the 19th century. As
part of his lecture series. Dr. John Harvey Kellogg demonstrated the efects
of feeding wild wolves a diet of corn kibble vs. a naturaly carnivorous wolf
diet. The resulting change in the corn fed wolf's behavior and demenor was
very dramatic. Even a raised voice would send the poor corn-fed creature
into a state of fear and intimidation. Kellogg performed this cruel
experiment on hundreds of wolves for decades. It was a great parlor trick
for his audience and helped to promote the new dry dog foods produced by his
company as a means to tranquilize your pet. There is also a scene
portraying this experement in the film about Kellogg, "The Road to
Wellville" (avail.on amazon.com).

I have seen first-hand the effect of the diet on bi-polar individuals. At
least one psychitrist has written a book about the effects of a low carb
diet on scheophrenia. A low-carb high fat diet has been used sucessfullly
by John's Hopkin's Hospital to treat brain sizure disorders since 1910.

What I tell people is that the diet is simple and absolutly without risk of
any kind. Just go one week without grains, beans, potatoes, milk or sugar
and see what happens. If you notice a change, buy the book. It's a lousy
sales method, but it has sold a lot of books!
