We used to always wait for steaks to go on sale at our local grocery store, buy a TON of them and freeze them.  It's better fresh, but... frozen's better than nothing when you're broke!

I must admit, I'm lucky that Austin is a food-aware town and we've got multiple branches of 3 different "health food" (like Wild OAts) stores competing against each other.  The prices are slightly lower for non-hormone infested beef here.
