Ah.  I wasn't aware that they couldn't be eaten raw.  Guess I won't grow any next year.

Turnips are a no-no. I think because they can't be eaten in their
"natural state" and they are akin to the potato. They're probably
fungicidally and pesticidally assaulted as well.
