Meat doesn't have to come from a health food store to be free range. My
grandfather ranched all his life, and never had cattle in a feed lot. (
a place one pays to have one's cattle fattened with grain ) The only
way they ate anything but grass was if they grazed an oat patch or ate
cattle cake when there was a drought. Try to find such a rancher and
buy a calf ( or split the cost with some other people ) directly form
him or her. This shouldn't cost any more than regular beef from the
grocery store.
