Not to be picky about a point, but I was wondering - isn't the tropical
Pacific water warm all year round?

I do recall reading maybe an Olympics ago about the phenomenon you mention.
It's enough to make me turn up the hot water heater! :)

I wonder if a study of cetaceans would yield any other interesting points?
