Pretty much.

Be sure to get enough protein but not too much. A common metric that I have seen is ~1 gm per pound of lean body mass.
BTW - beef is about 20% protein by weight so you have to eat 5 ounces of beef to get 1 ounce of protein.
(comments anyone?)

Also, eat enough fat. Personally, I have to work at it to be sure that I get enough, mostly by adding butter and coconut oil, generously, to my daily meals. My target is 50%, by weight, of my daily food content.

Here is a free and friendly site, from the folks at "Self" magazine, for looking up the composition of various foods.

If you register then you can save lists of foods and their quantities and it will give stats like total calories, protein, carbs, vitamins, minerals, etc.

>PS: A note on Pemmican. A million years ago when I first wanted to try Pemmican but was afraid of how complicated it was to make. Someone I knew only from a low carb list sent me some that she had made. It arrived in a grease stained envelope. It was good! So now, still thinking it was too big a challenge I ordered some online. Huge disappointment. I guess someday when I retire I'll buy a dehydrator and go for it.

Were did order it from? I get mine from US Wellness Meats.

and eat at least a few sticks a day. The "mouth feel" of such high fat content food can be a challenge for some at first. It took me a week to get used to it, when I first stated to eating it.

Ben.
