I don't think Cordain was one of the originators of this diet or this list. This list was originally started based on Ray Audette's book Neanderthin.
The main problem I have with Cordain is his advocacy of lean meat instead of fatty meat. Fat is the preferred fuel our body craves.

New people on this list should at least hear of the problems that can
be caused from the meat-and-fat-only diet promoted here. So once
again, I feel I should mention that according to Dr Cordain, who was
one of the originators of this diet, and this list, bone health is
substantially dependent on dietary acid/base balance. Diets that
restrict or remove fruits and vegetables produce a net acid load and
promote bone de-mineralization. “When the diet yields a net acid load
(such as low-carb fad diets that restrict consumption of fruits and
vegetables), the acid must be buffered by the alkaline stores of base
in the body. Calcium salts in the bones represent the largest store of
alkaline base in the body and are depleted and eliminated in the urine
when the diet produces a net acid load.” As Cordain says, “ The Paleo
Diet recommends an appropriate balance of acidic and basic (alkaline)
foods (i.e., lean meats, fish and seafood, fruits, and vegetables) and
will not cause osteoporosis in otherwise healthy individuals. Indeed,
The Paleo Diet promotes bone health.”
