On a positive note, at least corn and potatoes aren't paleo!

I try to keep a balanced, rational approach to the whole diet/food
"philosophy" that has dogged mankind since it's inception and will
continue to do so. On one hand, I think that the advances "technology"
and "agricultural progress" have made have benefitted a large percentage
of humanity, providing access to decent-quality, reasonably-healthy
food. Hey, none of us might eat brown rice, GM potatoes, or apple cider
vinegar, but I'd rather see my friends and loved ones eating those items
instead of twinkies, white bread and luncheon meats!

On the other hand (the one I follow), we on this list have decided to
take the time, discipline and finances to further refine and develop our
diet with the intent of better health, life extension, etc. It's all
personal choice - some people "require" expensive hand-crafted stereos
and cars to enhance the enjoyment of life, while others are content with
jamboxes and Hondas. Same with choice of diet. I neither endorse nor
support the dietary choices of others but I also have no desire to
enforce my "dietary will" upon them, either. GM foods may continue to
infiltrate the produce department, but there will always be a market for
"primitive", organic foods (which I will continue to support), just as
there will always be a market for vacuum-tube stereo equipment and
Ferraris. Like it or not, we are dilettantes and connossieurs of
exotic, "hand-crafted" foods!

All the best,
Jade
