My sister works in a lab. research.......... she states, they use rats
because,  they are cheap, breed quickly, using all pink eyed, white rats
keeps the consistency of the genes fairly the same, which is great for
research. Also, on her statement, not on a scientific basis, animal
activists really don't qualm much when using rats.
