Hi Betty Ann,

I don't know about exactely this particular kidney disease, but if protein
is beeing limited this makes sense for the kidney.
The approach should be to provide a protein which is as "ideal" as possible.
From ideal protein you have to eat less and therefore less amino acids are
"superflous" and burnt. Burning amino acids for energy is what releases much
nitrogen waste which has to be eliminated by the kidneys.
"Ideal" Proteins are difficult to achieve, because you had to consider all
eaten proteins of the day. I have a book which lists the protein grade of
various food items. Alas it's not web-available.
I've quoted some lists from the book here at the list.
Like this, here re-adjusted to the best quality protein found ans 100 %
- about 3lbs potatoe plus a 1+1/2 eggs egg sufficient for a day:

potatoe w. egg 100 %
milk/wheat 80%
maize/beans 74%
egg 74%
meat/gelatine 73%
meat 67%
milk of cow 65%
beans 58%
maize 53%
wheat 37%

Egg itself is rather good - you've to eat less egg protein than beef protein
to satisfy your needs (important for kidney disease).
On my paleolix page ( http://www.geocities.com/paleolix ) I've some links on
proteins
(mid page "Protein links", click on the small numbers 1 2 3 4)
Number 4 has a protein value table too ("table 2").

Maybe you mean tryptophan? there are different levels of TRY in different
proteins. Some lists I've posted too, just look for tryptophan on the
archives. I include a little of the tryptophan "best of" list.
