Hello Mary and list,
I've been reading much about metabolite problems
on this list for a couple of days.
 Also about Nystatin usage and so on.
Here a few personal impressions and information.

First, Nystatin is a chemical that stops the *growth* ("statin") of fungus
so that the yeast (candida...) can be killed by one's own imune system.
But as soon as the Nystatin disappears, one single leftover yeast cell (there will be plenty)
can multiply according to the growth environment it finds.
(Luis Pasteur said: " The bacteria is nothing, the substrate is all")
The solution can only be that our guts/intestines are not a substrate for the unwanted
bacteria/fungus.

The intestinal bacteria composition is indeed a factor very important for health
for some reasons.
1.The healthy ones may produce vitamins and other stuff we need, and they help digestion
2.The healthy ones may keep the unwanted and unhealthy ones away, using their own means

Normally in our intestine are as many (symbiontic = good 9 cells as our body consists of.

Eating sugars (in any form) *feeds* the candida fungus so that it can proliferate and
produce it toxins as well as attack or own body cells.

Natural diets will help to stop this effect, not only by stoping to support the bad cells.
But also with the only lasting remedy: building up our own symbiontic population.
A true symbiontic intestine population can be supported by the following measures:
- keep a lot of fiber in the food
- eating a lot of plants containing natural antibiotics
 (the antibiotics will help the symbionts and kill the bad ones)
   this are for example -raw garlic, onion,
      cress, roots, mustard seeds+plants, oregano... strong herbs
- eating things that don't support the bad, but do support the friendly bacteria

On meat: Substituting sugars by fats helps.
Meat only means: 80% fat and 20% lean part, isn't it?
You'll no
t be able to digest and use very big meat servings (lean part).
The remains will be left over to unwanted bacteria populations.

A healthy bacteria population may be supported by lots of cress, raw roots, raw garlic...
I love Rucola Salad :-) ... (engl:garden rocket or hedge mustard)
And I don't wonder *why* the herbs taste so good....

Fighting the one side (fungus) always helps the other side (bacteria)
and vice versa. Best way is to build up a healthy intestine population.

Right on.
Remember the use of the paleolithic plants.
