David's statement below reminded me of this <g>. The
Warrior Diet appears to be another one that is based
on "common sense." The author even admits that he has
done no scientific research himself - refreshing. I am
quite shaky on the details, because the book was
$26.95 in the bookstore (hardback) so I have to buy
one on half.com & wait to get it. It does seem to be a
kind of "extreme paleo." His theory is that HGs would
eat raw fruit or veggies during the day (the
walk-by-the-tree-&-grab theory) then would drag their
kill home at night and eat massive quantites of it
(not going to reopen the raw vs. cooked thing <g>)
with or without additional vegetable matter that the
womenfolks might have gathered during the day.

I began my experiment with it yesterday (probably
stupid since I haven't read it, but I am not known for
my patience). It is a true experiment. I measured
myself, and am tracking calorie consumption so I can
make sure any weight loss isn't from eating less. I
also haven't changed my eating habits much except for
the timing. I did eat some grain products last night,
and a low carb treat, but that is no more than I would
have done in the past. (In fact, the primary reason I
don't contribute much to this forum is that I am not
completely paleo yet.) I didn't eat anything during
the day yesterday at all, because I have have a cold,
and just didn't want raw anything. (Besides, this time
of year, I would almost have to eat frozen unthawed
berries or something in order to truly follow the
grab-off-the-tree thing.)

The thing is, this is how I normally eat when I am not
on some wretched diet or other. I have no breakfast
except coffee, a *very* light lunch, and consume
massive quantities of food (which probably aren't as
massive as I think) at night. Then someone convinces
me that this is "unhealthy," again on the "everyone
knows" principle ("everyone knows" you eat less if you
spread your calories out [experimentally proved
false], "everyone knows" breakfast is the most
important meal of the day, etc.) So I add breakfast &
lunch, don't eat any less at night, and gain weight.
My hubby is the same way. He is rail thin and cut,
with a wiry musculature. He is also getting a gut.
Why? Because since we've been married, I have been
forcing breakfast & lunch on him.

Anyone have any experience with this theory, or read
the entire book? Any feedback would be great.
