It seems that some posters never lived in a rural setting.

When young I ate green oat seeds, grass stems and shoots of
tender plants as I wandered the field and forest in Oregon.
Some kids will try anything.

Also I feel that with whole continents undamaged by
civilization (population); that the opportunities to catch
fish and "snare" mammals were very favorable to hominids.
I do not see any comments on snares? Maybe they were
discussed at length before I found the list. Poachers
still use snares.

It seems that the primitives eat what is easiest to catch or
tastes better. They must have often been reduced to a diet
of roots for some time when weather conditions were
unfavorable.

Regards, Lorenzo
