My last two labors were very short (2 1/2 hours and 1 1/2 hours), and the one prior was
probably pretty quick too, when it actually got underway. I never suffered from morning
sickness; a little with my second pregnancy, but not much. The biggest advantage I had
eating this way was having avoided the "pregnancy induced hypertension" I suffered during
the two previous pregnancies, when I was clearly replacing protein and whole foods with
anything that came in a box or can. The doctor merely suggested I avoid salt. I'm still
fascinated that most mothers receive a glucose IV to keep their energy up through labor--
I'm sure all of mine would have been a lot worse if I hasn't insisted on being able to
eat and drink as I pleased and refused that IV!

On a side note, my last pregnancy was "unassisted" and Elliot was brought into the world
unattended. I simply let my instinct guide me.

I'm glad that you've had great results with your children! My 3 year old has given me a
good giggle a few times-- once after she had spaghetti for dinner, she was walking up the
stairs in front of me complaining about how her legs hurt when she turned to me to tell
me she had noodles in her legs. I thought it amazing that she drew that conclusion. My
4 year old is highly sensitive to sugar and yeast and turns into a little monster when he
has either! My oldest seems least sensitive outwardly, but recognizes that she gets
headaches when she eats processed food, especially in the absence of protein. And to
think I grew up that way...
