These side effects definitely set in when I tried it.

And there is the constant obsession with health and food. I am obsessed with
food anyway but in a light, positive sense...I love cooking and eating and
everything about food.

Paleo is somewhat "limiting" but nothing I can't handle. OTOH with CR it is
a game of "how little can I eat" all the time, every day.

You combine protein sources (e.g. rice and beans) so you get your minimum
amounts of balanced protein and no more than what you "need." You eat low
fat as you point out, because otherwise you get "empty" calories.
