A good thrill is also not bad.
After some successful reproduction I think it could be even of
evolutionary advantage if such (older) individuums went into more
risky but more promising adventures.

Have you read the story of the mammoth hunt in the "Ayla Clan" book
from Auel?
Sounds quite dangerous.
