Nancy,

How much water are you drinking? When low carbing you need even more than 8
(8-ounce glasses of water per day). The lower I go in carbs, the more water
I crave and want to drink; it helps dilute concentrated urine. Constipation
can sometimes be caused by not drinking enough water or not taking in enough
magnesium. Even eating as little as 40 grams of carbs/day, it is possible
to have a bowel movement every day or at least every other day.

If you are not consuming an abundance of vegetables, in particular dark
leafy greens, you may be short of magnesium. If you are drinking distilled
water or reverse osmosis treated water, you may be short on other minerals
as well. If you are drinking either of these demineralized waters, I
suggest getting a product called CONCENTRACE liquid mineral drops (from the
Great Salt Lakes, sold in health food stores) and adding 1/2 teaspoon to a
quart of wate (preferably filtered water) per day and drinking that, in
addition to more water.

Deep breathing and exercise are also good for stimulating your bowels.
