I've tried that too, even though it's not really traditional here (I'm
italian...). I will prepare a new batch shortly, this time I will make it a
little bit fattier, last time it tended to crumble, and I won't put any
berries in it (takes too long to dehydrate them).
 
Anyway I don't see me and my family sitting at the table on sunday and
having pemmican for lunch, I think of it more as a snack or a convenient
food to carry along when running or hiking. I believe also american indians
whenever they got the opportunity would prefere a dear old BBQ and set aside
pemmican for the hard times.

Does any of you know if cod liver oil "counts" as fat in the diet? I mean,
I'm aware of the omega 3 thing, but does it work as regular animal fat in
providing energy for the ketosis process?

It was the only way I found to get a grip on the fat:lean proportion.
