<< The digestive system can be disrupted by the activation of the
sympathetic
nervous system responsible for the fight or flight response. The digestion
of food becomes secondary when you are running/fighting for your life and
limb! This common knowledge, I thought. unfortunately in this modern world
we choose to perceive non life threatening events as such. Being a constant
sympathetic response causes the heart and lungs to over work while the
digestive organs become ischemic. Life is holographic meaning that every
cell contains the genetic code for every other cell in the body just from a
different view. This does not mean, however, that every organ can control
or coordinate all functions that the nervous system does.>>

The book, "Why Zebras Don't Get Ulcers" extensively discusses this in
relation to ensuing illnesses when the adrenals become 'exhausted' from
being in 'fight-or-flight' mode frequently.
