"Just about all diets are based on being virtuous, with virtue redefined in
dietary terms.  We see the same phenomenon on this
list, with the term "paleo" appropriated as a label for that which is
wholesome, pure, natural, healthy, and so on."

The term "diet" finds its roots in the word for "discipline."  The word
"paleo" is rooted in ancient Greek and means "ancient."
