if it is "definitely not true" then the burden of proof is on you, I
would think, since you allude to a plethora of evidence.

Based on what markers? what criteria. Given that people can have
advanced cancer before any external signs present themselves, a mere
cursory observation is not really accurate. When do these animals ever
CHOOSE to fast in nature? THe exception is the bear which has evolved to
hibernate, with negligible protein loss during this period. _But this
data can in no way be applied to humans, or any other species_ . It is
akin to saying fish can swim underwater for hours, and so humans can
too.

Again, based on what markers?

Evidenced by what changes?

Exactly what (other that some vague reference to "cleansing") does this
fasting achieve? What biochemical changes occur? If you have observed
thousands of cases, what criteria do you observe? What are the
quantifiable changes?

In the absense of dietary protein, the body will start to cannibilize
its own. THis is medically documented fact. It is not all or nothing, of
terribly significant over the course of one day, but it does happen -
you wont lose 10 kg of muscle in a day. I would think, that any step in
the wrong direction, however slight, is still a step in the wrong
direction. Long term, it can be fatal, or at the very least severely
harmful. A number of IRA hunger strikers (to pick an example that
perhaps may be known to a world wide list) are now blind, as a result of
long term fasting. THeir bodies cannibilized not only skeltal muscle
(and vital organ tissue from heart liver etc) but even from their eyes.

To make claims to the contrary, especially in the absense of ANY
evidence, should speak for itself.
