It is not surprising. Hunting and higher intelligence were probably
mutually developed adaptations which allowed divergence from other primates.
Actually, even chimpanzees hunt and eat meat. Occasionally, bands of chimps
will capture and kill monkeys. The meat is highly prized and distributed
according to rank in the group.
