Driving to work, today i heard about the indigenous people of southern
Africa. As this is a probable region for our evolution - and also
today has
the climate, like it must have been there for a long time too, i think
they are of interest.

There are 12 different Koisan groups, counted the differing languages.
One of them beeing !Kung.

They live in a arid climate of shrubs and bushes and very few trees,
with
little rainfall.
For each person of these hunter/gatherers an area of 37 square
kilometers
is necessary (in contrans to the 10 squale kilometers i used in my
previous
posts for h/g in a temperate climate).

They are versatile hunters and excellent observers of nature. They
kill with
little poisoned arrows (but arrows are known only 40k years to man).
The poison needs some 2 hours to work (unlike Daktari's arrows).
One Kiosan said to a track: "This was a young antelope. She passed 2
hours
ago. She is tired. She will go to the trees in this direction. ... "

Actually they are more gatherer/hunters as vice versa because up to
80% of
all food is from plants.

Some of the animal food is gathered too (insects).

Cheers

Amadeus
