A friend of mine started her kids on sardines, vegetables, fruits, and other
wholesome foods when they became interested in food (while still breast
feeding).  Her kids absolutely love broccoli, asparagus, carrots, corn,
fresh fruits, etc.  When I went over to visit, I have fond memories of her 3
year old feeding his younger brother frozen blueberries and grapes.  The
older one would ask for "more bwoccoli" before he could even say the word
correctly.  She kept healthy foods around the house, modeled healthier
eating, and her kids developed a great fondless for veggies and fruits.  To
them frozen fruits were a fun food and tasty.

A lot of what we have a taste for can be conditioned by what we are exposed
to, the feelings and reactions to new foods we pick up from those around us,
the family, and people we grow up with and are influenced by, things like
that.

It may be that many kids do not likeveggies and fruits because there parents
don't eat them in much quantity, don't eat a great variety or fresh produce,
don't show that they enjoy the veggies themselves, don't prepae them
skillfully, do not buying truly fresh produce, overcook veggies, serve
canned produce, and imbibe highly processed foods themselves.  I did not
like many of the canned  vegetables or overcooked frozen veggies I tried as
a kid, though I enjoyed carrots and fresh fruits.  There are many vegetables
that taste entirely different when fresh and grown on nutrient rich soil as
compared to canned or old and lifeless, or overcooked.
