Thanks for reminding me about Mel Anchell.  I actually own both editions of The Steak Lover's Diet, and I need to look at his magic list of foods again.  

I have an article on my blog containing the Holiday Magazine Diet from 1950 - same diet, more or less.  The allowed vegetables are not as clear as they are in Anchell's books.  The article is about Donaldson, Pennington and the DuPont executives, characters you may remember from Good Calories Bad Calories.

I'm kind of a vintage diet book collector, so if anyone needs to know Anchell's "hotel portion" vegetable list, Dr. Mike Eades protein shake recipe from Thin So Fast (1989) or wants the Atkins Induction rules from 1972, I have that covered.
