Pemmican is the predecessor of mincemeat. It is made with powdered dried
meat and rendered fat, and a few berries. It provides excellent nutrition.
No, I have not tried it yet...my husband can't deal with the idea, but he is
getting there. Although I plan to make a mincemeat-type dish (not a pie, no
crust) this Thanksgiving. There is a wealth of information on pemmican in
Neanderthin, as well as a recipe for Ray's Pemmican.
