Ahem...where to begin?

The first thing to remember is that cancer and heart disease
are old age diseases. They are correlated with a
populations' wealth and education. If you have high levels
of these diseases, most likely you have high levels of
wealth and high longevity. The Chinese experience here, even
though they try to disguise it as something bad, seems to be
the same. The alternative is to be dying of the diseases of
poverty. Infections, parasites, tuberculosis, what have you.

Next is to consider the source. Even our western democratic
governments are not known for perfect honesty. All
totalitarian nations use "scientific" research as a tool for
control or propaganda. Science from these countries is most
often worthless, unless it includes western peer review and
repeat studies to verify the data.
