Archaeologists are busy digging up whatever they can find all over the
globe! If another human ancestor was found outside of Africa, it would be
major major news. In the last century or so they thought they found remains
proving the European genesis of humans that later proved to be a hoax.

Of course there's also the caveat that perhaps the geological record is
absent in non-African localities from the period in time that these early
humans would have existed.
