I tried some of these from a local health mega-market and roasted them in foil
instead of eating them raw (fancy recipe for salad for Thanksgiving Day) -
they
were FABULOUS!  The roasting really highlighted their flavor - not too hard
to imagine root veggies being roasted in embers from a dying-out campfire.
