See, I think there is a confusion about "Paleo Lifestyle" and a Paleo
Diet.

I feel Cordain (as I'm not him and can't speak for him) and to keep it
short, simply wants the diet to have the same Nutrients as a typical
Hunter/Gatherer Diet would have. He's not so much worried about how
things are cooked or what not.

As is his recommendation of the Omega 6 / Omega 3 ratio. Farmed animals
today do not have that ratio that he desires... thus to use Canola and
Flax Seed oil to help attain that.

At least that's the way I take it... What foods can I eat today that
give me the same nutrients and more importantly the quality of
nutrients as a typical Hunter/Gatherer diet.

I think some people feel that a Caveman couldn't do that, so Cordain is
wrong... well Could a Caveman survive today doing things the way he did
it then? (other than working in a Geico commercial)

You ought to adore Cordain. He's a true star in the paleo firmament.
But the critics of Atkins are right in this respect: too much protein
can be harmful. Humans are finely tuned to eat a large part of our
calories in the form of healthy fats with limited muscle meats (about
100 grams of protein a day) and seasonal carbs. Paleo man instinctively
knew about rabbit starvation which is why in times of plenty the fatty
portions were eaten selectively a good portion of lean meat thrown to
the dogs.
