From my limited experience, 4 months paleo, the trick is not to think of the
diet as a weight loss plan but to think of it as a nutrition plan for
attaining maximum health, a plan for life that is. I have lost about 20
pounds so far without counting calories or measuring quantities of food. I
don't have much trouble staying on the diet. It took a while for my night
time munchies to go away, but now I don't spend the evening hours fighting
with my cravings. I am eating no grains, no legumes, no potatoes, no corn,
only berries for fruit and nuts for snacks. I eat cage free eggs and grass
fed beef and cage free chicken primarily, with veggies including a lot of
salad with dressing ( I know the vinegar isn't paleo, but I can't be
perfect). I have a cup of herb tea with a little honey 1-2 times a day, no
sugar. Right now I am using either olive oil or cocunut oil. It's really
quite amazing how easy it has been for me to adjust to and even enjoy eating
this way. Also I have almost stopped having to use medication for acid
reflux which was essential before paleo. This has only happened within the
last week or so. I don't know what's changed but it sure is nice not
battling reflux. Since the reflux is one of my asthma triggers, my asthma
has been much better. Now if it would only make me younger...
