Don't apologize, you did nothing wrong.

In my life's experience, I have seen that lack of information
is far more dangerous than too much.

The only risk you run in saying too much is that you lose
your audience.  And then, having gone full circle, the audience
begins to suffer from a lack of information.

Who suffers more?
