I think the real answer is that it all comes down to Calcium balance.

There's a nice piece on Don's Paleodiet site www.paleodiet.com/losspts.txt
which is essential reading before taking this thread any further. I don't
know that it really mentions dairy very much. I get the strong feeling that
salt and caffeine are the major osteoporosis culprits. Also see
