Here in the UK this week TV screened a film showing the excavation of 4
skeletons in Dorset that turned out to be 5500 years old. Among the
information that they were able to get from examining the teeth of these
skeletons were that although this was just after the hunter/gatherer age
these people's main diet was flesh. Other interesting facts that came out
was that their teeth showed a level of lead that was nearly as high as it
would be today (this was of course pre Iron Age) and also that this group
was a woman of 30, and three children aged 10, 9 and 5 all buried together.
