Thanks for the link to this excellent website. For those who have set such
snares, the author has overlooked one important issue - scent. My own
experience (50+ years ago) snaring small animals is that they will avoid
such snares if the human scent is not covered with other smells. You can use
the scent gland from beaver or dog to cover the human scent.
