They're really the same thing.  "Folic acid" is the term used for 
synthetic forms of the vitamin, such as the stuff used to fortify 
breakfast cereals.  "Folate" is reserved for the vitamin as it's found 
in actual foods.  If the two are tracked separately, the sensible thing 
would be to add them together.
