Hmmm, but a natural catastrophe can't be selective as in the pigmies case
and it should have kept more or less the same ratio men\animals. I can't
think of a natural event killing only prey animals. 

And also tha concept of immigrants doesn't make much sense in a period where
people lived in nomadic bands.
