Jane, what you are experiencing is what is called a viscerosomatic
reflex. Basically, that means a visceral (internal organ) problem
reflexing back along the nerve pathway causing pain in the soma (body).
This is the opposite of a somatovisceral reflex. This is also why so
many of my patients with hiatal hernia type symptoms have responded so
well to kinesiological protocol. I know is sounds too simple to think a
properly trained chiropractor could help with hiatal hernia symtoms,
but, at one time the earth was flat and high carbs/low fat was the best
way to better health.
