I have recently read "Natural Hormone Enhancement" by Rob Faigan; and have
now been on the NEH diet (and exercise) for about a month - while still
staying paleo.

The NHE-diet is a "cyclical lowcarb diet". Generally Lowcarb , but with
a "carbload" meal twice a week (last meal of the day). Starchy carbs are
preferred rather than sugary carbs(because it enhances exercise performance)
It is easy to eat lowcarb paleo ; starchy paleocarbs are a bit harder -
sugary carbs are easy: fruits, dried and fresh.

The basic idea is that diet influences hormones ; so it is possible to
favourably manipulate your hormones, by eating appropriately. Similarly
exercise influences hormones - in fact this is the most important effect
of exerc
ise:

"You dont loose weight because of the (relatively few) calories you burn
during exercise - but because of the hormonal changes the exercise causes-
resulting in changed metabolism during hours and days after exercise " !

Another basic idea is that you can be either a "sugar/carbohydrate -burner"
or a "fatburner" - the latter being healthier, and promoting fat loss !
One initial week of strict carbohydrate restriction is needed in order to
switch to "fatburning" (standard modern diets makes you a sugarburner).
After this initial week, the "carbloads" every third or fourth evening are
too brief to turn you back to sugarburning.

...
I cant tell if all Faigans "scientific" arguments are true ; but I gave it
a try , and have had good results: fat loss, and most notably - much more
energy (almost a bit scaring - feeling somewhat "speeded"). It feels
 much
like when I started eating paleo - but with even more pronounced effects.

Does anyone have experience with this or other "lowcarb diets" ?

Or have any opinion on it ?
