Premarin stands for "pregnant mare urine"...another tidbit I learned
from
Pixel & Piton's vet.

Premarine stands for "pregnant mare [something]."  A Paleoithic
nutrition
thought is that cow milk is specifically formulated by Mother Nature
for
cows.  The same could go for premarin: horse estrogen is specifically
formulated by Mother Nature for horses.
