A diet does not heal anything.

The question is - can the body heal the gut damage?

By using a paleo diet, you reduce or eliminate many ill effects of eating
unnatural foods - include "leaky gut syndrome" (as described in Protein Power
Lifeplan). This frees up more of the body's own natural healing capacity to
work on the gut damage. (Which is why Drs. Eades recommend the most rigorously
paleo diets specifically for those currently suffering from some ailment.)

So, your real question needs to be - is the gut damage of these children severe
enough to be beyond the natural healing capacity of the body? This can only be
answered by some evaluation of the gut damage itself, rather than peripheral
issues.
