START with the cool lime and grape colored paperback "NeanderThin" (2000)
that can be read in a couple of hours and gets to the point.

The out-of-print paperback "NeanderThin: A Caveman's Guide to Nutrition"
(3rd ed, 1996, Paleolithic Press) is even more delightful, but
is available on used-book sources. But it's
also collector's item ($69.50 in mint condition) on amazon.com!
Looks like the best investment I ever made in % terms.
It has a fun tongue-in-cheek religious spin ("Pilgrim's Progress",
"Genesis", "Fall From Grace", ...) that was purged from the
later mass market book :-(. Big publishing companies are touchy I guess.


Cordain's "The Paleo Diet" (2002) essentially emphasizes lean meats
and says fatty meats are bad, and effectively shifts calory % from meat
fats to more plant carbohydrates. It is one aspect of the paleodiet debate.
It has a cheat version of the plan that includes 3, 2, or 1
cheat meals a week which I don't think too much of. I say go
cold-turkey :-).

The Eades' "The Protein Power LifePlan" (2000) has a lot of research
(you get to see the difference in molecular structures of
alpha-linolinic and linolelaic acids, wow!) and has a lot on
all aspects of what might be called paleolifestyle components
(nutrition, rest, meditation, sunbathing, exercise, stretching, ...).
One notable food included here that is not "permitted" in the
previous books is butter.
