Several people have expressed concern or questions wrt salmonella and raw
meat. Here are Don's and my thoughts: Many people are exposed to
salmonella (and a lot of other bacteria) every day, but they donšt all
become ill. Salmonella is virtually everywhere--in your carpet, on your
scalp, in your hair, your nose, your intestines. There are countless
microbes living in or on your body daily. A truly health supportive diet
will go a long way toward making your body an unfavorable home for
pathogenic bacteria and microbes.

The Root Cause of Salmonella: Improper handling from slaughter to purchase,
sloppy sanitation practices, and inadequate cooking are BELIEVED to be the
primary means of spreading salmonella. However, we must not forget that the
root cause of salmonella is a large scale, intensive, centralized
production, processing, and distribution system for animal products which
opens up countless avenues for disease, spoilage, and contamination, coupled
with weak human bodies which provide an ideal climate for the growth of
pathogenic bacteria. Most modern people are WALKING PETRI DISHES ready to
culture the next pathogenic bacteria theY encounter. The cure: don't be a
walking petri dish! A high carb/high sugar, low protein, low mineral, EFA
deficient diet is the cause.... So, the solution is to fortify yourself with
proper nutrition. Btw, coconut fats (which are rich in short and medium
SFAs have proven antiviral, antifungal, and antimicrobial properties.

Salmonella has not always been a problem in our food supply (obviously!). In
fact, most pre- and non-agricultural peoples (hunter-gathers) ate some,
most, or all of their meat raw! In so doing the received vital enzymes,
undenatured proteins, vitamins, and many as yet undiscovered nutrients that
are or reduced, altered or destroyed by cooking, particularly high heat
preparations and overcooking.

Kitchen tip: I keep a natural bristle brush and citrus seed extract based
soap near the sink, for cleaning under my fingernails and around my
(wedding) ring after handling and/or mixing raw meat. A good nail clipper
is also good for cleaning under your nails. Seems simple enough.....
