People living in dry areas utilize every possible storage of
water. So why not sap?
I remember as a child I liked to get sap out of birches and drink.
It tasted nice.
There has been found stone age chewing gum, I don't remember if
neolitic or older, made from birch sap using a quite sophisticated method.
