My question is this.....is this diet safe for osteoporosis prevention? I
still eat cultured milk in the form of cottage cheese and yoghurt, simply
because I am afraid not

Hi, Chris. Welcome! Nice to have you with us.

I have very small bones and grew up in a Dutch family (in the U.S.). We
were all huge dairy eaters/drinkers.

I now know that milk products actually leach calcium out of the bones and
the more dairy you eat, the worse your bones will be. Countries with large
dairy intake like the U.S. and Northern Europe have a lot of osteoporosis
while countries with little dairy in their diets have little osteo.

The less dairy you consume, the more your body will be able to hold onto the
calcium you get from green leafy veggies and things like almonds. Almonds
(raw and organic) are very, very high in calcium - although lacking in Omega
3 oils.

So I would drop the dairy and eat calcium-loaded green veg, sardines, salmon
and nuts.

Kath
