In regards to the thread a week back on restoring glycogen levels after training/exercise.. i did some research on the net, and can't find any references to the need for starches to restore glycogen levels.

I can find the general consensus being fructose is best for immediate restoration of liver glycogen, and glucose polymers are best for restoring muscle gycogen (such as maltodextrin- 
which is sort of half/half simple-complex)..

There are also a few references for higher GI foods being better after a workout and lower GI foods before (if at all).
It was also claimed in a few spots that Glutamine can greatly enhance glycogen restoration if taken after.. Glutamine has other uses as well
