I've noticed the same increased thirst in myself after
a large meat meal. I've often thought it was possibly
the body's method of "buffering" the increased stomach
acid secretions that come with higher protein intake.
I've not noticed the same thirst following carb meals.

I also have a sweet tooth following protein meals. No
guess on that one.
