I've been through all those same concerns at 52. My LDL and totalC are
very high, but HDL is high and TG is very low. Perfect numbers, but
not to an insurance company, I thought. I even got some samples of
Crestor to take temporarily, but haven't done it yet. What I did do
was find a high-rated insurance company who claim not to care. I spoke
to someone there who said they don't care about LDL as long as your TG
to HDL ratio is very low, and mine is less than .7, which is
excellent. If you stay very low carb, and avoid n6 fats in favor of
some n3 and lots of sat-fat, then you should be fine. The insurance
company is Genworth. Everyone is different, so I can't guarantee it
will work. Also, I haven't done it yet. I just got month-to-month 200K
coverage, which doesn't require an exam as a temporary measure to
cover the kids until I apply with Genworth, and find out if they put
their money where their mouth is, so to speak.
