I have the same concerns, Jo.  I recently ordered some products from this site because they appeal to me: http://www.tropicaltraditions.com/skincare.htm  Haven't received them yet.

Well, fair point, I should have labelled this topic OT. Apologies. But in
the absence of a 'Paleo lifestyle' list, I hope nobody objects to me asking
this question here.

It is a serious question - how much of the chemicals in these things do we
absorb? Take sunscreens, for example - I have read claims that they are
carcinogenic. It's not obvious to me how we should react to that. I'm also
curious to know modern hunter-gatherers keep themselves clean? Presumably
they don't reach for the Wash and Go.
