That's praxis not theory.
Bananas are the sweetest thing acceptable in such a preparation.

Somehow they don't seem to constitute a problem, unlike fruit with free
sugars, like oranges or honey or other sweets cause problems.

It may be that it's a certain kind of sugar which makes certain bacteriy
multiply so rapidly.
